PICC lines

What our members think about PICC lines

I had one for all my treatments and it was fine the only nuisance things was that the district nurse had to come round weekly to flush it and change the dressings. Also everyone had problems getting blood out of mine so I had to have xrays every time I had chemo but it was much better than them having 6 attempts to find my veins.
It really doesnt hurt when it is fitted or removed.

I had a PICC line inserted on Christmas Eve - it made my life so much easier. I went to the hospital day unit every week to have it cleaned and flushed and this was the only problem with it. I struggled with my veins so even blood tests were traumatic trying to find a vein but the line made my chemo days so much easier. Hope this helps!

I had my 6 lots of chemo through a PICC and never had a problem with it. The best decision I took since having to find the veins everytime was not a prospect I or the medics were really looking forward to since I had nodes out in both arms!. I did not have an easy ride on chemo at all and the PICC proved to be brilliant for all the stuff they had to pour into me!.

Yes, the flashing once a week was a bit of a bother (only because you have to do it!) but once you have it in...no more pain or disasters with needles or "you are going to feel a little prick now"....I highly recommend it!
